KYKELIKY!

Hello! Now it's time to give some more news on what team Haiti are doing, and this time in english.
Last week (from friday to friday) we travelled to two villages on a mission trip. We did so many things, experienced a lot and learned really much! It's difficult to describe all we did in only one blogpost, but here comes a summary and maybe we will come back with more stories an other time.

We left Port- au- Prince on a friday morning not quite sure what to expect for the coming week and if we had packed the rigth things. The people goinig on this trip was, exept from us, our American friend and translator Weslea, our Brazilian friend Alyson and two of our Haitian friends Judex and Brutus. We all left in a five- seat pickup truck, so if you know math you will know that four of us+ all the luggage had to be in the back of the truck.

After 12-13 hours on the road we had reached Judex' homeplace at the very south-west end of Haiti- as far away from the capital as you can come (kind of felt like the end of the earth). The roads were superbumpy and dusty much of the time, it was very warm during the day and it was very cold to sit in the back after sunset. But we reached there safely and what we were to experience the next few days was definetly worth the twelve hours roadtrip!

One thing we learned this week is that Haitians likes to have clurchservices many times a week and at all hours of the day. Already on saturday morning, tired after a long day on the road, we got up early to be in a prayermeeting at 5 o'clock in the morning; something that the villagers did every day. The two days we were in this village was filled with picking up trash, playing with children, churchservices and housevisits. This whole week we met a lot of people that we prayed for. Amazing to see that God can use us to do his miracles! God is the doctor above all doctors, and he healed a lot of people in the two villages we visited this week.
On sunday we took a little trip to a beach nearby. The most beautiful beach we have ever seen- and that in the middle of nowhere, far away from any tourist hotel!
This little balcony was sometimes filled with children that wanted to meet the white people

On monday we hit the road again, sad about leaving this village that we already liked so much, but ready for new adventures in Brutus' homearea. In this village we got to experience to live like a haitian. We are talking maths on the floor (the boys did'nt really have a floor even), showering from a bucket, limited toilet facilities, and doing lawndry in the river. The boys woke up every morning at 5 to the sound of a worship meeting in the room next door, and the girls woke up to a choir of roosters a little to early in the morning as well. The joy was therefor great when they decided to kill two of the roosters and give them to us as lunch.

Here we also went to many churchservices and palyed a lot with the children. One day we went to see Brutus' family and we visited a school. A team from YWAM also visited this village at the same time, and on our second day we went to  do housevisits together with them. We divided into many smaller groups so we reached many people in less than two hours.

On our third and last day we went to the local market wich was there two days a week. We went talikng to some of the sellers to ask them how their business was organized and what was their motivation. Sadly, we noticed that many did not have any motivation at all. The people in this area are very poor, and they also look upon their situation as hopeless, and had little believe in that they could change anything in their own situation. That was very hurtfull to hear, because we could see so much potential in their situation.
We asked one of the sellers we talked to if she wanted us to pray for her, and she did. Suddenly a lot of people came to get prayer, and they would not stop coming!

That afternoon we decided to have some activities with the children in the church. The boys wanted to play football and with the girls we sang, teached them a littlie english and played norwegian games. And then gave them some candy in the end. They were crazy!

When the friday came, we were tried and sad to leave, but full of new experiences and ready for a realaxing weekend at our home in Port au Prince.
